Hi new to this site, I have a ford galaxy 1.8 diesel. Year 09. I have a chirping sound coming from pulleys side of engine I thought it was water pump but changed that checked the other pulleys all tight as a drum, unfortunately didn't run it without fan belt something I read on here later, it can only be heard at tickover or low revs it's annoying can any one give me some pointers as to what it could be

    Mine chirps when cold and I am pretty sure its the air-con pump clutch that is doing it. I intially suspected the belt tensioner pulley but changed that and it did not fix the issue.

    Seeing as the air-con does not work in any case I have left it alone.

    I did suspect A/C pump as mine appears on all the while if you switch it off it comes on again in a few minutes. All this doesn't matter now it broke down last night on the A11 on the way home from fishing started with a swiping sound thought it was a puncture then it started to vibrate temp went through the roof then engine died managed to free wheel off to slip road . Cam belt ok fan belt ok when it cooled it would start but ran so rough RAC towed me to garage he thinks it's the bottom end gone will have to wait and see ,more money into a car that's worth nothing.
