Electrical issue - reverse lights not working

Featured Replies

On one of my journeys the other day all was going good until the front offside indicator bulb went out for a few minutes meaning that the others were flashing really fast but then the bulb decided to work again and all seemed good until I was advised by a passing motorist that my reverse lights were stuck on permanently which wasn't good when driving down the motorway.

Later on when just pulling up outside the house the headlights started doing weird things and flashing like a lightning strike show even when the car was turned off and because of that I had to disconnect the battery but when I reconnected it the following day, everything is working fine again except for the fact that the reverse lights now don't work at all.

I've tried searching for a fuse but can't find one for them anywhere so can anyone help please?

All help would be gratefully received and appreciated.

It's on a 2012 ford galaxy

Thanks

Sounds like something is up with the bcm which is the computer that controls lights wipers etc. Maybe water in it or dodgy connector plugs on it. My experience does not include galaxy.  On a mk2 focus the bcm looks like a big fuse box under the glovebox. But if dismantled it has a computer inside it (a circuit board with computer chips on it)

Firstly I'll tell you it is not a fuse problem, but so you can check the reverse lights are fuse number 11 and rated at 7.5 Amp, located in the passenger side fusebox under the glovebox.

As isetta has said the problem is far more likely to be with the Body Control Module which is mounted behind the passenger side fusebox. The Galaxy has a problem with the connectors located in the front nearside wheel arch. You will have to take the wheel off and remove the wheel arch liner to get to see the connectors.

This could prove to be a difficult fault to track down unless you can get the full Ford wiring schematics.
