MK7 Sony Upgrade -> bluetooth connectivity module?

Featured Replies

Hi all!

Good to find a nice corner in the net to talk about our cars. Anyway, let's get to the point. I replaced my 2012 Fiesta my 6 button radio with a Sony module from it's era. I thought that all Sony's had bluetooth phone connectivity, but I realized that this is not the case and you need an additional module for that.

Some background information. My stock radio is AA6T-18C815-DG. This radio, has the wide connector in the back, a USB port and the antenna input. The cd/radio that came with the Sony (I bought face, radio and screen from a seller as a whote) has part number AA6T-18C815-SF and has only the wide port in the back, no USB connector and only the antenna port. I want bluetooth connectivity, but I don't know how to connect the bluetooth module to the radio, if there is no other port. Is it possible to connect? Do I need a different wiring where I can connect the bluetooth module to and then it will work? Is my radio compatible with bluetooth or is it just a variant that doesn't support bluetooth?

I know it's a lot, but if someone has done this before, please let me know.

PS: is it possible to connect the newer systems with colour screen relatively easy? (by easy I mean, plug it in, change a few parameters with forscan and you're good to go)

Thanks!

Did u get a sync era or pre sync era Sony radio, coz if it's a sync era one it will not work with your car

The radio I bought is from 2011. I assume that it's not a sync? It's already in the car, everything works except bluetooth

This. The bluetooth module is supposed to be located above the passenger foot well. You need the wiring harness that connects it to the radio and then possibly activating it with Forscan. I've never seen a part number for this so it's possible that it is part of the main loom.

It's practically impossible. The newer systems use SYNC, which your car isn't compatible with.

Is there any guide anywhere on how to do that? Or at least, a wiring diagram where I can identify the pins that I have to connect? Have you done this yourself?

To be honest, I just thought that this was not possible with the radio that I got, due to a missing port or something like that.

As for the newer modules, that was more out of curiosity. To be perfectly honest, I like dot matrix displays, they age far better than lcd screens

No there's not a guide. Usually people realise you need the wiring loom so give up there and get an aftermarket system. I haven't done it myself, my old mk7 Fiesta had Bluetooth from the factory. This question just gets asked all the time and nobody ever seems to follow through with it.

If there is a way to find the pinouts, connecting those two modules would be relatively easy. Any idea where can I find those schematics? In this case, I would need both the radio's and the module's pinout.

Also, just to be sure, can you confirm that bluetooth can be connected through the 24pin connector on the back side of the radio?

With the fascia removed, below the stereo unit there is a grey multi plug, the Bluetooth module connects to this

Thanks for the response! Do you know where I can get this cable? Or do you happen to know the part number?
