fiestalux
My 2014 Fiesta Ecoboost 1.0 is due for it's annual service. The problem is that it has done less than 4000km this last year - I mainly used it for the daily commute which was almost non-existent since the start of the pandemic. I am in two minds whether to service it now or wait, please let me know your views? At present I have Ford Roadside assistance as part of the service, but if it expires, it's not really a problem as I have a secondary assistance plan via a car club. The car may clock up a few hundred over the coming week as I will on a short tour, but I cannot see it being near its recent 8-10k per year use. Total KMs is about 60k. It was not used so much in the first two years, hence the low number. It has had one fault in the last year, something had to be reattached to the turbo charger unit. Eric Bloodaxe
I'd certainly recommend an oil and filter change at least, and a safety inspection of brakes etc.
anon
Yes. No question. Ecoboosts don't like short journeys and turn themselves inside out because the oil breaks up then the belt breaks up then the engine breaks up. Change the oil and filter. Forty quid or thereabouts. Do it every 6,000 or annually if you do mostly short journeys.
fiestalux
I don't use it for driving in the city, its mainly used for short and medium distance trips on the motorway. Now that things are getting back to normal, my daily commute is about 45kkm, 90% motorway driving. Thanks for the tips it sounds like the breaks and oil should be checked. I may try the economy service for older cars this time.. it may be a better option given the use over the last year.
Scottyghia
You can change the oil and filter yourself for £50.
spaxboyz
Defo an oil, oil filter and maybe air filter change. Give the car a quick visual inspection whilst you are at it 👍
Hackney
oil changes/services are ‘time based’,every 10,000kms OR annually, whichever come first. If you only do half that,do it regardless.Oil is cheap, engine issues are not.I choose to do mine around the six month mark.
