Fiesta zetec s HELP PLZ Temperature gauge

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. Please could someone help me regarding the Temperature reading I acquired through doing the secret code reader on my dash, it read Engine temp 9C cold and 78C warm. I'm assuming that's oil temp. Then on Temp gauge I got 002A cold and 01DF warm. I don't understand that reading. Thank you in advance for anyone who can help me.

No that's coolant temperature. There is no oil temperature sensor so any reading will be a calculated estimate.

The 'secret' dash is a complete waste of time imo. There's literally nothing on there that's useful.

Thank you so much Luke, I agree about it being a waste of time, maybe good for battery voltage check but that's bout it, I was checking water temp sensor. Thanks again

Even the voltage check isn't particularly useful. If you're ever diagnosing a bad battery or a charging issue etc. you need to take the reading directly from the terminals. The voltage drop caused by all the wiring and components inbetween the battery and the readout just make it unsuitable.

I understand yes. I just really used it to make sure my temp sensor was actually working at all. But think there's 2 on my engine. One for ecu and fan and one for the dash. I will have to invest in a reader and take a look

There is an oil temperature sensor as a look at the circuit diagram will confirm. It is in the module that measures the level.

2A = 40 as a hex number.

1DF = 479 so these values make little sense . Divide them by five and they are very close, though.

The temperature readings you have are the ambient cold 9 C and the 78c is exactly the temperature at which the thermostat opens so all is well.
