2008 Ford Mondeo Titanium X - Audio unit fault

Featured Replies

My audio unit has the radio, heating and sat nav controls. I started the car and the unit just switched itself off. After a couple of days it then came back on. It was okay for several months after that. A couple of months ago it did the same thing but this time did not come back on so I checked all the fuses and took the car to MAS radio to see if they could fix the problem. The guy at MAS had no idea what to do and told me I needed a new unit. As I was very busy i did not do anything and yesterday it suddenly came on when I started the car. I put in the radio code and it worked. Later that evening it went off again but this morning it cam back on again.

Can anyone please help as I do not know what the problem is and it is becoming frustrating and I am concerned as we are going into the winter months? Will appreciate any help. Thank you

I would say the switched mode power supply built in to your radio is failing. Given the age of the unit the electrolytic capacitors will be starting to dry out and become unstable. A good electronics repair centre would be able to refurbish it but to honest the cost would be as much as replacing it with a Chinese Android unit.

(Just had a thought !!    @StephenFord  have you got any of those Flux Capacitors spare ? 🤣)
