Hi all. 
I have the dreaded bonnet lock problem again and have gone through the process of again breaking into my grill and smashing out the lock and opening with a screw driver. I am loathed to replace the thing again as they do not last. 
 

My question is has anyone not replaced the lock and have just used a screw driver directly into the latch as a permanent solution for all eternity? I don’t care about security at this point. I just wonder whether this will eventually damage the latch and I may never be able to get into the bonnet again or any other problems that I may create that I’ve no idea about.
