Field Service Action 21E10

Featured Replies

Has anyone else received a Field Service Action notice on their Ford app for their Focus?

Field Service Action Number: 21E10

Field Service Action Required: Powertrain Control Module Reprogramming.

I did, don't know what it means

Ford focus 1.5 ecoblue from February 2019 in Portugal

I called my local Ford dealership. They didn't know much about it, but I've booked my car in for next Tuesday to have it done.

High Nox emmisions can occur as the engine ages due to an error in the pcm programming. Just a pcm update fixes it.

yes it is a ford internal recall that does not affect the safety of the vehicle

Yep, got the notice on Friday, booked in for this week!

Did they tell you how long it takes ? Is it a sit n wait or a drop off all day job ?

So I am leaving my car with them but been advised that it could take between 1.5 to 3 hours

Yes just got my notification, try to get it booked in now, but the wont answer the phone 😡

Mine is booked in for Thursday after work (3pm), I booked it online so I have not spoken to anyone about it.  I hope its not going to take them that long as I need it back for my shift on Friday 🙂

Ste.

Booked in, asked if I could leave all day, but it's just a software update, they said they'll do a health check and charge my battery (and check why s/s hasn't worked in over 2 years)  As it's a ford recall I'm presuming it's free ?

Mine's booked in for tomorrow. They did ask if I am happy to leave it with them for the day as they weren't sure how long it would take.

I'll let you know how long it is with them tomorrow.

FYI

I dropped the car off at 9am, and I've just had the call (10:45am) to say it is ready.

Just spoken to my dealership to confirm dropping the car off at 3pm tomorrow, and they'd prefer a full morning to perform the update they have confirmed.  I've re-arranged for next Thursday when they can have it all morning.

He did say the update can go smoothly in which case it'll be an hour or so but the extra time afforded by dropping it off in the morning means if it does go wrong or fails to upload, they have more time to resolve it rather than keeping my car overnight and trying again the next day which would be the risk with dropping it off that late in the day.

It makes sense really and as I do need my car the following day to get to work it seems a more logical option.

So, next Thursday for me. 👍

Called into our Ford dealers ( Perrys) and they can't do ours until 22nd December and need it all day but I've asked for other things to be looked at too such as the vibration on the center pillar and the squeaking boot strut which is becoming embarrassing when you open and close the boot unless it's a wet day lol.

Also said the car was due 2 updates not just the recall but wouldn't or couldn't tell me what it is but said it should of been done as a routine job during its first service and she went on to ask why it wasn'tserviced at a Ford dealer.

My reply was the inconvenience of dropping it off and picking it up as we are 12.5 miles away and public transport isnt an option.

Just had mine done. It took about 1.5 hrs. No noticeable effect on performance for bad or good. Irritating that the notification for the recall came less than a week after it was in for a service, but that's life.

Had the Ford dealer ring up earlier ( car goes in tomorrow) and requested that we leave the locking wheel nut on the passenger seat when we drop the car off for it's recall.

At a loss why they need to remove any of the wheels unless the other closely guarded secret update that's being performed requires them to be removed.

Anyone else who's had the update done had a similar experience?

Ford's VAG dieselgate scandal - see they were all at it

of course as Ford is American they don't need to try and knock the biggest car company in the world.. Its no different to the BS about Toyota - one copper killed himself and his family in a televised suicide mission, and two grandads had wedged the floor mat under the pedals - other than that not a single Toyota worldwide had an engine management issue that caused inadvertent acceleration

Car was dropped off at the Ford dealership this morning and so far we've recieved an inspection video of the car on the ramps with a technician going around the car and talking through what he was looking at.

Got the car back. 0900 dropped off, picked it back up 1530. Two updates done. Full inspection and sorted out ths stiffness in the rear boot strut, squeak in gear changes and HUD rattle.

Battery been charged as SOC 50% and reading 12.09v despite being on the smart charger for 6hrs on Monday and having been driven 170 miles on Tuesday.

Annoying things since... altered outside temp back to Fahrenheit, speakers set to front only and clock reverted back to 12hr mode.

Will check the alignment of the centre caps when I next go out ( Forgot to check).

For those that have had the update done. Have you noticed a better return in your mpg since.

Prior to the update on a monthly basis I struggle to keep it above 50mpg.

Today went out to the peak district for our weekly shopping (52 mile round trip) and its returned 66mpg which seems quite high by usual standards.20220104_121801.thumb.jpg.9feba7de709671e7fcce41bbdc99c03b.jpg

They were just a little miffed because Toyota had become the biggest car company in the world, which they didn't like!!

Let's not mention the Firestone/Bridgestone (another non US or A company) Ford Explorer issues!!! Tyres worked fine on all other cars around the world, apart from Ford Explorers in the US of A, convenient!!! 😉
