unscrewed the cap on my headed tank to check my anti freeze, the cap came off but left some of the inside of the cap attached to the tank, been took i need a new cap and tank, any ideas, thanks

When mine did that, I managed to get the two bits to clip back together by ***** the top bit back on. I then heated up the engine and then carefully undid the cap so the pressure in the tank would help push the  lower part out still attd to top part. Then refitted with some silicon grease and been ok since. So I didnt buy a new cap and I try to remember to take it off regularly so it doesn’t jam again

Just get 2 screwdrivers and prise it out.

I've had coolant issues and same thing it broke off in half. Just two screwdrivers either side and we prise it out and replace it with new cap, you most like will damage the old cap part prising it out but u have a replacement. Flea bay sells them about 6 quid.

If the bottles cracked, why bother removing the cap from it?  Just fit the new bottle and cap.

repaired the bottle, 

How did you repair the bottle?  I can’t really think that a repair will last due to the expansion/ contraction due to heat and the pressure.
