Cambelt and water pump kits etc

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Where do you all get your parts from, Eurocarparts, GSF ???

Im looking to do my sons cambelt and water pump and drive belts but just want to know any feedback on quality or issues? Any makes to avoid? Avoid eBay?

Not looking forward to doing job asvI don’t like the idea of the floating crank pulley and toning :0

Cheers

I would advise against trying to do this job at home. You need all the proper Ford tools to ensure that everything is locked solid before releasing the torque holding the crank pulley.

Watch this YouTube video on what happens when you get it wrong.

What engine? The diesels are quite easy and have woodruff key in the pulley, but the petrol ones have plenty of scope for disaster as mentioned.

Thanks guys

Its the 1.25 petrol on a 2007

Cant understand why the petrol engine doesn’t have a crank pulley key too.
Good point about not doing it at home but I do have compressor tools locking kit to hand.

Going back to my question of where everyone buys their Fiesta parts, what do most owners do or prefer?

Cheers

I buy pretty much everything on ebay nowadays.  Look for genuine parts on there at reduced cost and you can get some bargains.

If you want real Ford parts and want to order online there is Arnold Clark Autoparts

Thanks, that Arnold Clark link looks good and I’ll try eBay too

Much appreciated

Sorry if this is a stupid question but why do you have to remove the crank shaft pulley, can you get the belt over the pulley and     onto crank sprocket? If so, this removes the chance of cocking up the tightening of the crank pulley bolt

Is it just so that you fit the lower belt cover?

it's not a job I've ever tried myself but I understand the pulley has to come off so you can get the belt cover off.
