CAT convertor Flexi hose

Featured Replies

does any one know if the flexi hose is covered under warranty... I’ve still got one years left on mine

also Both back bushes need replacing ...I presume they are not covered

thanks in advance

Hate to say this, it depends on your warranty. All you can do is read the terms and conditions.

What warranty do you have? The standard manufacturers warranty is only 3 years.

I doubt either would be covered on a near 6 year old car tbh.

I purchased a additional 3 year cover ... it’s with Ford protect

I’ve looked and it says manilfold is covered ..but exhaust manifold isn’t !!??

says the bushes are covered ...

What’s happening to the flexi connector? Is it just fraying of the wire mesh?

I’m not sure to be honest

Then how do you know there is an issue?

What is the issue?

Anyway, back bushes I would say it appears they would be covered but whatever the issue with the flexi hose is, I would have to say it is very doubtful it would be covered. Quite an expensive part I would have thought and it will be classed as a part of the exhaust system.

The car was stolen ...

we got it checked over when it was returned to us ...

no mechanical damage due to be stolen so can’t claim on insurance, but they said the flexi and bushes needed attention.. it goes in for service in January anyway so would have been picked up then

Ok, so we are still none the wiser what the problem is that you have with the flexi hose.

You would need to ask what "they" mean when they say the flexi needs attention.

If it wear / tear / natural degradation, physical damage, accidental damage then it probably will not be covered by the warranty as it seems as you have already stated that exhaust manifold is bit covered so I doubt much else regarding the exhaust will be.

I reckon about a hundred quid plus fitting for a flexi if it isn't hard attached to the Cat. Just a guess though.

It’s probably got a few stray strands of that woven cover on it. Assuming it’s that style of part. They can still last for years with broken strands on them.

They showed  me so I could see what needed done ... the flexi was moving a lot and had a worn noise ... I have no idea other than that !

It’s my car , unfortunately my husband was Not with me so they could have been doing the lady knows nowt about cars , let’s baffle her ... which they did lol

I’ll ring them on Wednesday when they re open and ask if it’s covered ... it’s very vague on the policy in my opinion

How would I know if it needs changing Or not  .... no noise on car or performance issues ...it’s only when mechanic said it need attention that I took notice

the bushes however are definitely a problem ... noise when the axle is moving

You will know whether it needs changing if the car fails its MOT for a defective exhaust system.

It may well be OK but I doubt they would have mentioned it.

Many a time extended warranties don't cover a lot of things the customer would expect to be covered. Careful reading of what is and what isn't plus the small print is recommended.

Car been in today and has bushes done ..they were well worn , they showed me them

cat convertor hose , where it connects to flexi is worn ... that why it needs replaced ..they said wear and Tear so won’t do it under warranty
