'11 US Spec Fiesta - Unusually high gas mileage

Featured Replies

Recently my parents bought me a 2011 US Spec Fiesta (1,6 l engine, hatchback) and at first everything worked just fine, but the screen shows that the consumption is just 13 mpg (17.6 L/100 km) which is ridiculously high and indeed, the recent fill-up of 10 liters was enough for just around 40 km, which as you can guess, is really bad and so I'm wondering what might be the cause? Sure just bad spark plugs can't be the only reason, but so far the engine makes no funny sound or anything so I'm wondering if any of you has an idea about the possible causes.

Thanks in advance.

How comprehensive is the service history? Air filter clean?

Fuel leak somewhere?

  • Author

Hey guys, sorry for forgetting about the post. Well, turns out the car wasn't at fault at all. One who took the car got it accidentally locked with the keys inside, when he was out of the car himself (due to him not being used to the Fiesta whereabouts) and the engine was idling for quite a while, until emergency service arrived to open the vehicle. So when the computer counted the consumed fuel and compared it to the odometer, it calculated this monstrous number. Now it's back to normal. Because of that reason I forgot about the post and now I found out I can't delete it, so here's the answer. Peace.
