Won’t start not turning over

Featured Replies

I own a Ford ztec 2008. I drove through a puddle yesterday came up to about half height of my tyres. Left my mums that night and it started fine gone to go out this morning and it won’t start won’t even turn over. I’ve just had new spark plugs ignition leads and they tested my battery and said said it’s good. Worried the puddle has killed my car…. Any suggestions what it could be please?

Most likely problem is water in the starter solenoid, or even in the starter motor it's self.

run a temporary lead from the battery positive to the positive terminal on the solenoid control terminal (NOT the main power to the starter motor).

If all is well the solenoid will pull in and activate the starter motor, but I think you will probably find nothing happens - solenoid will be dead !

If you don’t know a great deal about cars and you’re not prepared to get your hands dirty,in your situation I would call out a rescue service and take it from there. If it is the starter motor they will be able to replace it for you. Will be more expensive though and hopefully a lesson learnt regarding puddles👍
