I have the model with the B&O sub under the carpet in the boot.

Is it safe to put anything heavy in the boot without damaging it?

Also the back seats dont go flat to increase boot space. Can the seat bottoms be removed or pulled up so the backs can be flat?

    Personally if you’re carrying something heavy such as trips to the local waste recycling centre I’d place a piece of reasonably thick plywood over the boot carpet to give some additional protection and support. 

    I believe you can “yank” the rear seat bases from their fixings, but as the rear seats were never designed to fold flat you could possibly damage both the seat base and seat backs doing this regularly.
