Tail light not working. Fiesta ST 2004

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 2004 Fiesta ST. The driver side tail light stopped working so I went to halfords and they changed the bulb. It still did not work.

My dad neighbor had a look as used to be a mechanic. He changed the fuse with the one he had in his van and then the light worked.

Following day - Both tail lights not working and the back light for the dashboard. Neighbor looked at it yesterday and bought a new fuse for both the tail lights and they all worked.

This morning the driver side tail light not working again.

Starting to get really stressed as just had some difficult family news and really need the lights to work.

Any ideas?

Many Thanks

Colin

Not clear if it was same fuse changed both times. Has the new fuse blown?  You can see when a fuse has blown from the metal bit

in the centre burnt away

From your description you have a short in the drivers side circuit for the rear tail light and front side light. Try replacing the the front sidelight before trying another 7.5a fuse in location 23

Hey Dan.  You thinking that the front sidelight bulb has permanently shorted (i.e. is now permanently in a very low resistance state rather than o/c)?  That makes sense.

yes, that's the thought, hopefully its just the bulb and not a wiring issue.
For it to blow the 15a fuse  (before the 7.5a ones) which does lighting both sides and the instrument cluster it must me quite a low resistance short.

Gotcha.
