Mk8 hidden rear 12v socket?

Featured Replies

So…after having her Mk6 Fiesta stolen & trashed….3 months later, she finally has the insurance payout, & we are hopefully picking up a 2017 mint green Mk8 Zetec B&O special on Tuesday (hurrah!).

For insurance, she will have an Admiral Littlebox.  She thought it would be installed/hidden (they say “if the car is stolen, we can track it”)…..but then at the end of sorting the insurance, it said she would receive the box to plug into a 12v socket.  Not too hard for thieves to throw out the window, eh 🙄

I’m guessing there is isn’t already power there for just such a purpose: I see this thread where the wiring is put in on mk6….

Anyone have any idea how hard it would it be for someone with more skills than me to pop a 12v socket somewhere behind a boot panel to plug their box into?

Buy a 12v socket and a piggyback fuse holder, connect them together and plug into a permanent live in the fuse box behind the glovebox. Extend the wires if you want to hide it somewhere in the car.

Ah, you are assigning me with skills to delve behind the fascia 🤪

So there is no suitable live power hiding behind a panel in the boot to use? (for an auto sparky to use, I should perhaps say!!)

cheers!

You can’t be that useless surely.

An auto electrician would be able to work out where to get power from.

You'd be surprised!
Not delved into car electrics beyond jump starting and replacing batteries... & always nervous to try to get behind the glove box lest I break something 🤷🏼‍♂️
Maybe I need a Haynes manual.   Or a garage

Cheers!
