Price of my fiesta

Featured Replies

Hello, I bought a fiesta 1.6 zetec s (2005) as my first car and it was great, I learnt to drive in it and the day I passed my test it broke. One of the cylinders doesn't work, I love the car but I need to sell it, It burns oil like its petrol and because of some issue the pressure is to much, breaking one of the spark plugs which is why one of the cylinders doesn't work. It needs a whole new engine and I don't have the money to do that. I want to sell the car but I have no idea how much to sell it for. It has a small amount of rust on one of the doors, no damage on the body work or structure. And if the engine worked it would be a great car. So if anyone has any idea on how much I could sell it for it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Probably not what you want to hear but with a shot engine, not a lot. Scrap man might give you a couple of hundred at best, some might even charge you to dispose of it.  Car is worth more if you strip it and sell the parts separately (interior, bumpers, panels if no rust, lights etc...). From the picture, that model ended 2000/2001 - so I do not think it is a 2005?

I'd go to autotrader and do a search to see if you can find one with similar miles, age, model... Probably not many about that shape anymore.

As you suggested yourself in the first post, the cost to replace the engine outweighs the value of the car unfortunately.  The only option for keeping it on the road is finding an enthusiast who can make the repairs themselves.  Not an easy task, especially in January which is the worst month for selling cars, people have spent all their money on Xmas and are now saving up for a summer holiday.

Having just checked ebay & Autotrader, there are a few of these on there at silly prices...I can't believe anyone's paying £3k for them now.  But it's always best to start high and come down.  Free sites like Gumtree and Facebook Marketplace might be a good option.  With the engine being scrap, make sure you focus on the good parts - body work, interior, etc, and add several good quality pictures of those.

The bumpers and skirts used to be sought after, maybe the interior.
