1.6tdci mk3 focus - Cleaning of EGR / EGR pipe / EGR Cooler / Intake

Featured Replies

Hi, my 1.6tdci 115hp mk3 focus just hit 282000 km (175000miles), and I have only done a PCM update, replaced 2 injectors, replaced the clutch due to bearing piston failure, and lots of oil changes. One of the replaced injectors just died on the piezo side. The other was changed because of the high return flow and unstable idle. I  have been cleaning every accesible sensor and valve once a year/30000km (MAP, MAF, Shut off, EGR valve). Lately the car started to smoke the exhaust (@260kkm). The EGR Valve always have been clean, only very fine soot particles. How ever I think that the pipe that feeds recirculated gas into "intake" might be clogged(9D477A in attachment), and it also started to spit some oil vapors that make a mess in the engine bay.

Did anyone here cleaned the intake pipe and the EGR pipe? I think that due to design of the EGR system the valve is always clean (9D475B), but the clogging is moved upstream the intake. I think that due to possition i might need to remove the EGR cooler (9U433) too. The cooler shouldnt be dirtier than the valve as the gas is not mixed with oil there.  Any advice on how to do this cleaning?
