Garage works quote - sound right?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My 2012 auto Ford Fiesta Titanium is currently with servicestop for a service and MOT (already paid for).

On top of this I'm being quoted £310 for the following:

Indifator bulb change, oil change, brake fluid change and spark plugs replaced.  Does this figure seem in the right ballpark?

Seems a lot, I’ve paid £40 for the brake fluid and about £90 for an oil change and that was a Ford dealer.

Indicator lamps are easy to change even with low DIY skills. Spark plugs are simple too.

call a few other garages for a quote.

aren’t they doing the oil change and spark plugs as part of the service?

Has the bulb failed MOT or was it just an advisory?

Oil change and spark plugs are service items as above...it either needed them for this service or it didn't.  They're not really optional items.

Brake fluid is recommended every 2 years but not many have it done.  Around £50 would be the right area for that though.

Overall, it looks like they've hooked you in with a cheap 'service' and are now trying to get more for it...  Not a fan of that as a business model.
