Mk8 1.0 125 Fiesta - Power loss - No CEL, no error codes.

Featured Replies

Hello!

First post here, got a wierd problem.

I have a 2018 Fiesta ST-Line 1.0 125 with around 43.000 km. Recently I've lost a lot of power, across the entire RPM range. The car feels as if it has no boost at all.

Took the car to the dealer, plugged it to the diagnotic tool ( with engine turned off so no live data). No error codes were found.

The mechanic took the car for a quick spin, came back and told me that it drives perfectly. To my surprise I got in the car with him, drove around the block, and indeed there was full power and all.

So at this point nothing was done to the car and I was afraid that the problem would return, which is exactly what has happened. 300 km later the car again has lost a lot of power, the drive is pretty rough and no CEL is on.

What would you recommend? I am thinking of going back to the dealer and have them drive the car before connecting it to the diagnostic tool and pressure them to check data from all the sensors with the engine on.

Could it be that the ECU somehow resets when connected to the diagnostic tool?

I'm still under extended warranty 8yrs/100.000km.

Thanks in advance!

Good evening G.Tasio!

Have a nice and happy new year!

First of all are you from Greece? (Your nickname seems familiar to me).

I think that the main problem with your car is lack of knowledge from the dealer.

You should check your car to an other dealer  (Ford i suggest) so you would have a better opinion.

These problems are oftenly ECU problems or sensor problems.

I wish you good luck and do not let your car to non-dealers hands!!!

Yes! I'm from Athens! . 🙂

I always take the car to the dealer given that I'm still under warranty. They probably need to run a more thorough check!

If you have a recommendation for a dealership in Athens please pm me!
