from a fiat abarth to a ford fiesta st

Featured Replies

hey guys i currently own a fiat abarth and while its cute small and an absolute pain to work on as you need to remove the front bumper and half the car to do a lower control arm i am thinking of switching to a ford fiesta st, im not looking at the 150bhp model im mainly looking at the 180bhp and up i have about 4k to spend but i want to keep money spare for mods i just don't want to buy a fiesta in which all you guys will say should have bought this model as that na engine is pointless to throw money at for performance gains. whats peoples opinions ?

I doubt you’ll get a ST “180” for under 4K unless it’s a category car with very high milage.

the “180” is a 1.6 turbo, the “150” is a 2.0 NA.

does the 180 1.6 turbo have more tuning opportunities ?

It’s easier and cheaper to get more power from a turbo car.

i totally agree my current abarth is pushing 220bhp with simple mods

For £8,000 you'll get a worn out dog of a high mileage 2013 ST180. For half that you'll turn up a decent well looked after ST150. DEcent ST180s are going for £9,500 and above frankly. Not saying they're worth that in reality, but the prices are strong because supply is not so good for tidy cars. An ST3 is the one to get and a REVO stage 1 or Mountune remap gives a very satisfying performance boost and really all you need for road work.

Then, just as you get settled with it, someone will nick it.
