Fiesta drivers seat

Featured Replies

Hi All,

My Grandson has purchased a 2009 3door Fiesta. The Drivers seat R/H arm is threadbare I wondered if any one had a similar seat or full seating at a reasonable cost, and fairly near to East Yorkshire for Pick up.

Thanks for Looking

Hello Keith you need a lot more information about the car before you will find a seat. There is about 12 (or more) possibles: colour, trim type, 3 door/5 door, electric/manual, heated/not heated and they are not just interchangeable. Don't forget to disconnect the battery before removing the seat as you wouldn't want to accidentally cause the seatbelt per-tensioner to go off.

Do a Google search for 'Vehicle Recycling Centres'   or 'Car Scrap Yards' near you. For example I know there are at least 10 near Scarborough.

You could add photo. Not sure what you mean by right hand arm.

R/H side where driver sits the seat turns up , susceptible to wear. This one has worn through to under foam.

Probably best searching eBay for fiesta seats or for people breaking fiestas.

OK. This is not a difficult one to answer. Your Grandson has purchased a fine car first of all. There is a good reason there are so many Fiestas about, and why they retain value compared to other makes of the same age/milage.

All cars are subject to seat  wear, and the outside edge of the driver's seat base is always the place  where they wear fastest. It's a sign it did more shorter journeys., or simply more trips and higher mileage. The Steering wheel rim will be very shiny and gear lever worn also in a higher mileage car. It's simply nothing to worry about unless it shows 30,000 miles or so....

So, as said above, there are many trim levels and colour options plus 3/5 door options to the car. a 3 door will have the tilt and slide mechanism, so you will need to ensure you look for  3 door interiors.

Often, the seats will sell as a full set, and if that's the case, then you have more options, as the door trims are often a neutral covering and not matched to a particular trim option. As said, the seats have an electrically triggered pyrotechnic pre-tensioner and may have seat airbags too, so simply disconnecting the battery and leaving for 10 minutes is no bad suggestion for all airbag related work. Then just unplug the old front seats.

You'll need a torqx bit set of some kind to unbolt the seats and simply change them over.

The best bit is they are plentiful. If he wants sports seats, or a different set, no problem. Just remember to stick to pre facelift 2009-2012 seats as the plugs under the front seats are different on later cars.

It should take a hour to change them all. On a difficulty level of 1 to 10, its a level 2.

Usually called a 'seat bolster'.  Might not be too expensive to have an upholstery company replace a panel or two on the seat cover if he doesn't want to upgrade at all.  The trouble with used seats is that the drivers will almost always be worn, albeit in varying amounts.

Yes, but there are plenty of 2009-2012 cars with low mileage that have bene scrapped due to accident damage, etc. Loads of good condition seats out there. £200 for a full set is about right and you wouldn't get a driver's seat removed, repaired and re-installed for that amount.

Well thanks for all your replies, I didn't  want disconnect battery as I'm not sure if the radio code is with the car

Mk7 Fiesta doesn't use radio codes.  You will need to reset the one-touch windows if it has those though.
