Sat Nav confusing..Help!

Featured Replies

I have just picked up a 2018 zetec, and tried the sat nav last night, but couldnt get any voice prompts for directions, despite the symbol of the speaker with a cross through it being highlighted, then unhightlighted ( but still crossed through.

Also couldnt narrow the search down enough to find where I was going ( found street but not the pub ). Steets can be quite long and hard to find without accurate prompts.

Any help?

Can you not press the muted speaker symbol to remove the mute?

Post Code is usually pretty good at getting you close enough to where you need to be without too much hunting around. Post Code and Door Number are better still if in the navigation database. Up to date maps are a bonus too!

The loudspeaker symbol with a line through it came up highlighted, when I clicked on it the highlight dissapeared but the symbol remained with a line through it. I updated the software today, so hopefully next time it will work.

Some roads can be a mile long or more, pretty tricky in the dark when theres just a pub name, no number.

I have the same problem with a Garmin satnav.

Try Android auto ( or Apple CarPlay) then use Google Maps or Waze so  much better

The last owner probably turned the voice prompt volume right down to 0 rather than mute it. As Mark hinted at the answer to how you turn it back up is in your handbook and unless you read that you will never get the best out of the rest of system too. Resetting the system may or may not fix it.

As for the finding things, it will find a street number no problem but the data base of buildings it is very poor and not just for pubs. Here Maps, who supply the system is exactly the same. If I'm looking for a pub or any other building I normally use Google search on my phone to find the address and input the address into the cars system.
