P053f cold start

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Does any one know what the fuel rail pressure should be when idling on a 1.0 ecoboost?

Mines showing around 3000kpa (430psi) but not sure this is right?

I don't know what you are measuring the pressure with but I'm fairly sure FORScan will have PID's for Desired and Actual pressure for both the high and low pressure sides.

I don't know the exact pressure for your car but 3000 Kpa does seem about right.

Tizer,

Cheers for the reply, I was using FORScan on my laptop so will have to check the PIDs. 3000Kpa just seems abit hi but then I'm not a Ford Mechanic so don't really know.

I've seen some posts suggesting that the P053f relates to the fuel sender not doing its job properly.

All should be revealed when you check. There should also be a PID for the Fuel Pump Duty Cycle and I would expect it to be be around 20% most of the time except when you switch the ignition on, when it will be a lot higher.

The code does suggest that pressure is not building up quickly enough when cold and your assumption may be correct but I don't have any more information other than that.
