Focus MK3 2011, weird steering assistance.

Featured Replies

Hi, i have problem with my newly bought ford. Steering assistance seems to change resistance randomly. Especially when turning wheel, and changing direction of turn, weird "sticking" effect is occurring. It is not constant. Just random peaks in resistance on wheel when steering. Only correlation i found is when i accelerate harder it is more often noticeable, and when battery is lower its also more frequent. When Battery is lower from driving in City for a while it becomes very noticeable and unnerving. I checked all battery parameters with professional, and he says that battery as well as alternator is fine. Does anybody had similar issue?

That always worries me🤔

So what is the standing voltage of your battery after 30 minutes?

and what is it's SOC after standing overnight ?

Electric power assisted steering is always sensitive to the cars electrical system, especially if the SOC is below 80%
