Tyre pressure sensor alternative

Featured Replies

Hi,

I’m looking to get rid of the need to have tyre pressure sensors - especially at £50 a time from Ford.

Is there a way of turning the warning symbol off on the the dashboard?

TPMS checks were added to the MOT test checklist in January 2015 and it can now be an instant MOT fail if the TPMS dashboard light stays on to indicate a fault or problem with the TPMS valves. Many motorists don't realise this, which has led to thousands of new MOT failures.

If your car was fitted with a TPMS system when it was new then it will be checked as part of the MOT.
On a technicality because of the age of your car it didn't have to have TPMS when it was manufactured, so if you remove all the sensors and turn off the system so there are no warning lights then it's probable that would be acceptable for MOT purposes.

Thanks Unofix.

I think I’ll turn the setting off. Can ForScan do this?

I've never looked but I would expect that it probably could.

Tried to deactivate TPMS but ForScan throws up errors.

Voltage is too low apparently. Battery is fine as it’s been checked.

Are you using the latest version of FORScan and do you have the full licence ?

New programming 'vLinker FS'  lead is now recommended for use with the latest version.

When doing programming of any kind it is advisable to have the car battery on a constant charge to ensure that the voltage is at least 12.6V or higher.

Yes, have full licence. Unsure if latest version, but will check.

I like the idea of auto switching cable too. My cable has worked fine for many Transit diagnosis and mods.

Battery has been checked - is in good condition and charged.

Forscan is latest version now.

New OBDII is connected, driver downloaded and settings set as per instructions.

Cannot locate how to disable TPMS - or enable a learn of a new valve.

Ideas please.
