sat nav misdirecting !!

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a ford focus 2015 with built in sat nav and for some reason it misdirects ! For example I joined the A1 at Sutton on Trent heading for home in Cornwall-the sat nav took me off at the next junction, around the roundabout and then back onto the A1 !!  What could be causing this-one of many such incidents !!!

how upto date is the maps on the sd card in the car. have to checked your nav settings like avoid toll roads, motorways etc

Is your sat Nav maps updated?

toll roads and motorways is a key one to check - sat navs ONLY do as they are told - as stated by andypsp if the maps are old it could well be telling it to go on a route that is no longer viable and or some one said don't use the motorway - then the first opportunity it will do as its told and get you off it

if it doesn't appear to be any of these you need to check its seeing at least 3 satellites (so it can triangulate) and know where it is - on certain brands of cars the receiver of the satellite data die like clockwork

One thing we have found is that having entered our destination, we sometimes finds it takes us somewhere else nearby. Does it less now that we've stopped pointing out where we are going on screen - thus selecting a different destination by touching the screen!
