Mk2 Doors Help

Featured Replies

The passenger door of my Focus is a bit iffy lately in that it needs to be shut gently to close correctly. When most people close it it only seems to sit 'on the latch' if that's the right term - sticks out a bit and door light on, not closed fully, you know what I mean. Handle is a bit stiff too.
The back doors aren't as bad but seem to be going that way too.

Has anyone experienced this or can anyone give a nod towards rectifying the issue?

Thank you.

Check that ya door seal, the black rubber stuff, hasnt come adrift and is causing the door to not seat correctly.

Also check the door striker plate isn't loose or has moved. You might be able to see the mark on the body work where it should be, if it's moved.

Beating that, be like minicab, everyone in the back!!!

Thanks folks. I'll get to it today hopefully and report back.

I did get some lube in and checked the door plate/ubbers but all looks ok. Still the same issue though. When I have a bit more time I'll take the lock out and see if I can spot anything.

Both our front doors are doing the same thing.  2006 car.  After being closed, they need a pull on the inside, or a nudge on the outside, to shut properly.

The MOT test centre has just refused to test the car because of this.

And the Ford garage basically said there was nothing they could do and we'd need to live with it, which isn't very helpful given the above!!

That's interesting Rob. And a bit of a pain! If I find the fault on mine I'll let you know.
