2011 Ford Focus Titanium electrical fault

Featured Replies

Hi all,

first time posting on the forum and certainly not a car expert but wanted to post this on here to see if it’s a common issue but also for help and advice 🙂

2 weeks ago my focus broke down having lost all electrical power, eventually until the point that it wouldn’t start the engine by pressing the button.

had the RAC come out to it and they charged up the battery, couldn’t see any fault with the alternator or the battery and got it started again but I took it to a garage to get it a check over anyway.

the garage spent a while looking over it, we decided to fit a new battery (side issue, the radio has stopped working since the battery change - is this normal?) and they changed a couple of relays but couldn’t really find any issues. It was starting again just fine. So I drove it home and all seemed okay.

came to use it 3 days later and it had zero electrical power and won’t start again. Couldn’t even use the key fob to remotely unlock the car.

is the car not charging the battery properly? Is the electricity leaking from somewhere and draining the battery?

and finally is it work taking it to a proper Ford dealer/garage to get it properly checked over or have a diagnostic? If so any recommendations for good places near me: Hull, East Yorkshire.

sorry for long post! Thanks
