Car cuts out

Featured Replies

Hi

could anyone help, my ford fusion automatic 59 plate keeps cutting out and says transmission failure or engine over heating. But then start it up again an it drives for a really short period and same thing happens.

Sounds like a fuel problem but had a new fuel pump last year.

Any help would be much appreciated.

not really one for me as an auto, but i wouldn't have thought a fuel problem would be related to engine overheating  ? That sounds like a comms fault on wiring for example my vaux 1.7 dti had a dry joint on edu pcb and scanner threw up a few codes that were red herrings, when it was a spill valve

Out of interest is a tiptronic auto fusion ? or what is a durashift, i ask as Big Bob posted in the past mentioning transmission problems and was a bad cable in the loom.

Also google it, i found someone with a 37k mile car with the following codes... for transmission failure and i think that p0919 relates to a simple motor actuator sticking.

P0919
P1799
C1222
U0404

sorry but other than that autos aren't really my thing (apart from our lasses auto 1.8 astra (which was stuck in 4th gear - and was the maf sensor at fault) !

Fusions (autos) seem to be poor on the transmission faults

Might be worth a post in the Fiesta section - I would think the systems are identical.  Like Trev, I have very little experience of automatics.

We had a similar problem last year with a 2010 Kuga Auto. We had a full Ford service done on the auto gearbox and ......... so far so good.
