MK4 Focus Instruments Blackouts

Featured Replies

Good day to you all.

I have a 2019 68 plate Focus ST Line X, love the car even with its inherent non functional engine stop/start!!

Anyway, it has developed a new problem and was wondering if anyone else had encountered the same.

A couple of weeks ago driving to work in the dark, all of a sudden, all of the instrument lights went out. Only for about 10 seconds and then came back on. ***** unnerving when you are on the M5 I can tell you!

Then, twice now I have been driving and the centre display has switched off with the message that the system is shutting down to save the battery. Again, no chance of pulling over or being able to get a picture for Ford as I am convinced that they will just plug in their laptop and say that there is nothing in the error logs.

It is approaching its 40k service, so will be asking the question. I don't hold out much hope as they haven't managed to sort the stop/start in the three years I have had it. So has anyone else experienced such a vehicle instrument display blackout?

Thanks for your help and comments.

Ken.

I think you are the first to mention that problem.

Of course stop/start is an easy thing to fix, and I could tell you how but I'm afraid that others might want to know and it's a long story.

[change the SOC from the default of 80% and set it at 95%]
