Focus menu on dash is going mental?

Featured Replies

The digital menu part of the dash clocks is flashing through mileage, outside temp, miles to next petrol stop, etc without stopping. The menu button on the stop don't stop it, so I tried unplugging the indicator stalk to see if it was faulty - no change?

There is a potential inherent fault with instrument panels of your vintage, but I have not heard of your particular symptom. To save a few dolphins, Ford temporarily went green and dropped lead from the solder used in the panels. Worked for a while but over time, the joints dry out and cause all sorts of electrical gremlins. It's relatively easily sorted by having it 're soldered', you can search on Ebay for services offered. Don't be tempted to buy a replacement panel as you'll end up with a whole set of new problems in mis matching!

It sounds to me like the button might be stuck down in the cluster. Does this have a plastic stick type button going through speedo or rev counter. I know you mention the stalk switch, I know some cars have both. We need someone with same car to hold the stick button down on the speedo / rev counter to see if it does what yours is doing to see if that is what the problem might be

The menu buttons are within the indicator stalk. I thought the stalk might be faulty so unplugged it from the steering wheel and turned the ignition back on - it didn't change anything.DSC02988.thumb.jpg.00334220dbbc99ffbe3be9ddf8c623c5.jpg

I'm having the same issue on my 2006 Ford Focus MK2 after the battery going flat, and getting a service for the mechanics, not sure what caused it. We're you able to resolve this?

The OP hasn't been back for a year and a half, I would suggest you proceed on the basis of the 2nd post...
