MK6 clutch master change

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Got this horrible job to do and just wanted to ask that if the clutch master shares the same fluid reservoir as the brakes, when you remove the pipes to the clutch master, does it start draining the reservoir so that you have to bleed the brakes too afterwards?

Cheers

yes it shares the same fluid reservoir just plug the clutch pipe and all you should need to bleed is the clutch

Assuming you are doing this on level ground.  The clutch fluid take off from the reservoir is half way up the reservoir so that if you have a clutch leak you would not have brake failure.  So even if you do not plug clutch pipe, it will not need brakes bleeding.  Assuming you don’t have car at a steep strange angle that might cause extra fluid to come out of the clutch pipe junction on the reservoir.

Job completed but what a pain. All because Ford decide to use a plastic push rod for the cylinder push rod. Anyway, sorted and clutch feels better than before after bleeding it 🙂

Thanks again for all the advice
