Ford fiesta 2013 boot light not working

Featured Replies

Any Ford techs that could help me out.. 2013 ford fiesta 1.25... Boot light not working. Bulb is fine. I can't check power ect as tools are in storage as starting new job. Boot lock works as it should on key fob and tailgate. With car running and boot open it's tells me it's open so that's works fine. Been told it runs a micro switch in the boot lock that switches the boot light on but is that separate to the car knowing the boot is open. Just thinking of taking a chance and changing boot lock but don't want to if the micro switch also tells the car that boot is open which tells me that's its working so could be a wiring issue .. Any ideas.. Thanks

In all the Fords I have checked, the same microswitch lights the Door Ajar warning light on the dash as turns on the boot light. It all goes via the same processing unit, the BCM (Body Control Module). So I would suspect a wiring fault, or maybe a fuse.

I'm thinking water in the plug for the boot light ground? What's your thoughts. Was sent this wiring diagram

Assuming that diagram is correct, then it does look like there is a separate contact for the boot light inside the boot release mechanism, Unfortunately it does not show where the signal for the door ajar warning led comes from, it may be another contact on the same switch unit. So it makes replacing the actuator a possible cure.

I would want to get at that actuator first and test the wiring, eg continuity testing on the actuator switch, and shorting the lamp wire (the white/something wire - I do hate diagrams that have been so mashed by various stages of complex computer processing until they are almost illegible!) direct to ground.

Thanks. I will take a look at the Weekend
