Gear change squeaking 2011 fiesta

Featured Replies

Hi I bought a car a couple weeks ago.
2011 titanium fiesta 1.4 petrol.

the gears were perfect up until yesterday and now they’re making a squeaking/ rubbing noise from using 1st up till the 4th gear. 5th is fine.

it doesn’t always do it. I noticed it yesterday morning but then on my way home in the afternoon it was back to normal. And then today it was fine during the day but in the evening it was making the rubbing squeaking noise when changing gears.

Any idea what it could be / if it’s an expensive fix. I’m a student at uni so if it won’t cause damage I can live with it but if it’s something that needs fixing then I’ll call a mechanic.
