MA Mondeo m4 2007 aircon fan control module

Featured Replies

Help!

Does anyone know anything about these aircon fan control modules for my mk4 2007 MA Mondeo Diesel hatch. (See pictures)

Ford does not sell these as separate items and going online I cannot seem to get a ideal match going on the module serial numbers.

So the question is does anyone know if these modules are interchangeable on different mondeo models?

For instance can I take one off another diesel mondeo and will it work on mine or do I have to use the exact same modules with matching numbers for it to work?

Is that for the radiator fan or the A/C control unit that forms part of the dash?

The large 2-pin connector in your photo looks too hefty for a/c control module which only has small gauge wiring connections on multi-pin plugs.

Can’t see anything on your label that looks like a Ford part number, these are usually 4 digits/letters then 5 or 6 then 2 or 3. Mondeo examples often starting 7S7T. Radiator fan module being part of radiator assembly it wouldn’t have specific Ford part number in comparison but found one easy enough on eBay

Hi Troy45,

Thanks.

it’s for the radiator fan module unit which I was led to believe by Ford  in turn controls the aircon control unit within the car. The Ford dealer guy showed me the module. My aircon does not work but the car does not overheat so I am not too sure. Is the ac control unit easily to get at and changed in that case?

I have tried searching on eBay and found the parts as you say but it says they are not compatible with my model. That’s why I wondered if they are interchangeable.

cheers

I’ve not heard of the radiator fan and AC systems being linked before.

AC unit in the dash should be fairly straight forward to change - would expect you just need to remove the fascia, probably unscrew it then just a couple of connector plugs at the back. Maybe a few other connections looking at examples on eBay.

For module compatibility  you need to make sure part number matches but last letter can be different as this indicates engineering change level only. eg 7S7T 18C612 A (E) for the DEATC version

I wouldn't rely on eBay for vehicle compatibility. What engine do you have. Also has it been diagnosed as fan module faulty, as MK4 Mondeo suffered from broken wires to fan module in the harness.

Thanks guys.
mondeo is 2 litre Diesel 2007 MA mrk 4.

Iantt It has been diagnosed as a faulty fan module by Ford, and a reliable Auto Electrician but I do also know that these cars do have issues within the harness as you suggest.

Thanks for the module compatibility info troy45 that is good to know and I will also check out the ac unit in the dash.

cheers

dave
