Towbar eletrics

Featured Replies

Hi guys I own a very nice 2016focus Titanium and want to get a towbar but not to sure on electrics as I been told conflicting things will aftermarket or manufacturers own I was going to go with the correct ford ones  but told aftermarket would be ok !! Need help please excuse spelling lol 😬

I know your car is a Focus but read this thread on fitting a towbar to a Kuga, I think it will help you. One thing is for sure you will need the 'trailer module' fitted and the car will need programmed so it knows it now has a towbar.

Thanks both much appreciated I think I'm going to fit the tow bar myself and had it to a specialist electronic engineer so they can fit a dedicated electronic pack !! Thanks ScouseJon99 that very handy I proberly order it straight from ford can't go wrong then hopefully lol 😬

I have written a guide on fitting a trailer module on my mk3 focus, if you are interested.

Just had a towbar fitted by Towcraft, its a Witter towbar, using the vehicle-specific wiring harness, they do the software update as well. I went to them direct, cheaper than going through Witter. I always go for the vehicle-specific harness, worth the few extra bob in case of issues. You can go onto Witters website and get details of the towbar you want, including info about bumper cutouts (very discreet on my MK4 St-Line)
