Ford EcoSport, who in there right mind would want to steal one . 🤣🤣🤣

A Vignale, i'd never admit to that name lol

What do you have against the Vignale name lol?  It's just an old coachbuilder like Ghia or Bertone!

I was tempted by the thought of an Ecosport a few years ago, so I checked the figures ....... and discovered that it's neither eco nor sporty!

BTW Did you know that after 12 years of being the best selling car in the UK, the Fiesta has dropped out of the top ten. Surprised me.....

Partly due to the shortage of chips/ factory closures. Ford prioritized the Kuga and puma production ( probably more profit in those)

They are losing by not having  an electric version:

The 100% electric Corsa-e was one of the best-selling small electric vehicles (EVs) in the UK last year, accounting for 5,605 of total Corsa registrations

IIRC, corrected for per head of population, a few years ago the most stolen car was a Ford Cortina - generally nicked for breaking the car and selling the "untraceable" spares.

Kuga is a proper hybrid as well isn't it?  VW were prioritising hybrid Golf's over full ICE to meet the emissions limits for the year.

I've seen figures suggesting that only 5% of cars sold this year have been diesel.  Not sure if that excludes hybrid diesels but I'm genuinely surprised it's such a low figure!

I hope that pushes the price of Diesels up a bit further

Would have thought the price will drop if no one wants them nowadays!

Perhaps not in view of all the emphasis on achieving "nett zero" and "virtue signalling"  which has no doubt confused/scared off many consumers for whom a diesel may still be a perfectly viable choice. Ironic that if they are trying to achieve lower CO2 a diesel is still better in that respect and as for other pollutants, ironic again that the latest diesels are the cleanest ever.

Can we trust deisel figures tho after all the scandals of emmisions fixing faking ?????

We know petrol churns out the carp.

I stand by my mantra of the last 10 years or so " Green is expensive"

not to mention green is only green after its built, building the battery packs alone is as bad if not worse than driving round in a big old dirty derv tractor.

as for me going green (electric) I'll think about it when they either come up with something that can do a decent number of miles or when they come up with a way to charge that don't give you time to have a meal while waiting.

also if there is something most of us know already from the years of phones, laptops and various other electrical gadgets that use battery's they do over time wear down so how long until a new battery pack is needed for the electric cars! how much will they be to buy! and one of the most important questions what will it cost to have it changed!

with our current technology i would say if you work out the harm done making the original battery pack then work out how long until a new one is needed and what harm making the new one will do the chances are its greener to drive a petrol or diesel for the same amount of time. (of course thats assuming the car isnt a V12 monster or something silly).

I'm sure there was an article about how green/carbon footprint an electric car is and IIRC it's only after it reaches 70k miles that theres any benefit what so ever within 3 yrs.

and if current tech is anything to go on it wont be long after that it will need an entire new battery unit!

And we haven’t yet discussed the fact that if we change to electric cars then there is not enough electricity unless we have a load of new power stations.   And then there’s also all the cables under the pavements which may well not be able to supply enough current when a whole street of people are charging cars at same time in the evening.  Coupled with phasing gas out then even more electricity needed to heating homes. The infrastructure is not there to allow the public to suddenly get electric cars even if we did only charge them at home

There's also zero noise from electric vehicles, pedestrians first words will be i didnt hear it coming.

WE can build nuclear, were an island security is as hard or easy as we choose to make it , massive upfront costs YES but we then become our own masters, and if we over produce we can then sell back to those that require it. We were sold north sea oil on the fact we could be self sufficient, never happened as with all things

They have to make noise below a certain speed now.

They're far from silent anyway.  One of the loudest cars on my road is a Renault Zoe!  Oddly, the Telsa is a bit quieter, presumably due to more sound deadening in a larger/more expensive car.

Doesn't work. Believe me, I've had quite a few workers walk in front of me while driving slowly . Luckily I saw them and collision assist kicked in a few times. Couldn't even bump the ones I don't like! ☹️☹️
