Mk2 estate parking module and canbus

Featured Replies

So I’m fitting oem parking sensors to my son in laws mk2 Ghia estate. Unlike mine his hasn’t got the wiring pre installed so I’ve got to put it in. The module is fed 12v by the BCM which means running a wire from the BCM pin 3 of connector C100 all the way to the module in the osr 1/4 panel. That’ll be fun. It has a ground wire, two wires for the speaker and two for the canbus. I went to a breakers yard and pulled a car apart and got the whole lot out, well nearly the whole lot. I had to cut the blue/grey twisted pair of canbus wires as they disappear up under the dash on the drivers side and into the door (I think)

now the question is; these canbus wires, do they have to be routed exactly as oem? The canbus is a network with everything talking to the dash binnacle. Can I wire the canbus onto anything else? On some cars they have a cd changer in the boot or under the seat I believe, can I just connect to these? Will the canbus pick it up and start the parking module working?
