Fiesta engine trouble help

Featured Replies

I bought a 15 plate zetec S ecoboost 1.0 a couple of months ago. (Checked the car out myself but as I’m not an expert also got in an external mechanic who found no problems) After a few weeks driving I suddenly had a loss of power and the car essentially went into limp mode. I managed to get it to a garage who diagnosed a blown head gasket. Took it back to the dealership who replaced this and the fuel injectors. Two days later the engine light came back on. Code p0132, bank 1 sensor 1 high voltage. Had the o2 sensor replaced but the car threw out the same code a day later. It’s now struggling at speeds over 50mph and is misfiring. Garage said it could be the catalytic converter but if that was bad wouldn’t it be the 2nd sensor throwing the code? If anyone has any ideas would be greatly appreciated!! Thankyou

From the limited info... sounds like a lemon.  I hope the supplying garage have been paying for everything.  As it is within 6 months of purchase, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 says they have to fix it, or (after a number of attempts agreed between you) you can reject the car for a 'full' refund, with a small reduction on 'full' depending on how much use/miles you've had of the car.

I would put it all in writing and move to reject the car.

Well it could be the cat depending on how long u drove with a blown head gasket as the oil/ coolant/ both going into it would have clogged it

I don’t claim to be an expert.  As far as I know the post car sensor just monitors to see if cat reduces emissions. The sensor does not alter any running of the engine. It purely puts eml on if it’s reading suggest cat is not effective.  So any running problem can’t be down to post cat sensor reading.  Also I don’t think the cat can get clogged to the degree it affects the running of the engine, only effect from a ruined cat is high emissions.   I don’t know what is wrong with it but it sounds like more than just the cat, and we don’t really know there is anything wrong with the cat.       As I say I am not an expert , that’s just my thoughts

I have a fiesta mk7 tdci I have a code 00037 and my car splutters from cold then ok when warm
