1.6tdci Injector change problems

Featured Replies

I recently changed the injector to cylinder 2 after a breakdown (code P1262) with a replacement part from Ford. Easy enough change and correction codes entered using FORScan and an OBD2. Since changing the errors have gone and codes cleared themselves but the cars not right. Sluggish in first, loud constant knocking in all gears and very rough idle when cold (rougher than usual), poor fuel economy and fair bit of smoking on a pilot drive. Has anyone had similar problems? Local Ford garage being less than helpful on this (other than saying bring it here with a credit card). Sounds like a racing tractor! Confident in the fitting.

A long shot.  When coding the injectors I think the injector number is not the same numbering sequence as just counting along the cylinders . I think it’s based on firing sequence which is not the same as counting along from one end of the engine. So could you have recoded the wrong one (which means two of them would be wrong) .   I know it’s not likely but thought I’d say just in case.

Yeah I considered that and checked before started the change. It’s def in the right cylinder. Thanks though. Remains an enigma! May have to suck it up and go to Ford.
