Nav Update - Kuga ST-Line

Featured Replies

Hi all,

First post so please be gentle.

I own a 2019 Ford Kuga ST-Line Edition which I love to bits, my question regards the SYNC 3 system specifically the mapping software which I've noticed requires an update. The update in question is approx 9.3GB in size. I have downloaded and placed this onto a USB 3.1 drive and attempted to update the maps, this is quite the lengthy process with it requiring 1 hour for the first part of the install and 42 minutes on the second part. The issue is with it either crashing half way through, the engine turning off which in turn switches of the infotainment unit (IE Sat Nav) or completing but then not creating the file required at the end to post onto the Ford website for them to see that it has the latest update.

I'm wondering is there a faster way to do this as from what I can see the USB ports in the car are USB 2.0 which means it will take what feels like a year to update, I do have WIFI with a 900MBPS connection or is there another way.

Ordinarily I would just leave the car on the drive way with another car behind it and leave it running most of the day so it can install on it's own but we've recently moved house and no longer have a drive only a street right in front of our house meaning it isn't really viable just to leave the car running.

Forgive me if this has been asked before but just hoping for a bit of an easier option if anyone has one.

Thanks in advance.

Have a read of this thread, it will help.

I would suggest using CyanLabs to do the updates.
