Alarm Fault - Focus Mk3 2014

Featured Replies

Hi

My alarm keeps going off periodically. No obvious signs as to what or why? Certainly not an actual theft and doesn;t appear to be external sensors as tried all sorts of things.

When I bought the car, the first night the alarm went off twice and in the morning the battery was dead. Replaced the battery and it seemed to stop going off for a couple of weeks from what Im aware of, but started again after that. I have also replaced the key batteries just to be sure no fault there.

Checked the TEST menu as there is a fault with code DTC #01 E101_00

I alos noticed when the alarm went off that when I look at the dashboard before unlocking or opening the car the display says "Ford KeyFree Place key in key holder". I don;t know if that means anything or is standard. When i unlock the car the alarm stops without needing to put in the key holder and locks back up fine.

Hi Matthew, have you used a multimeter to measure the voltage across the battery terminals. It should be a minimum of 12.4V when checked 30 minutes after switching off and parking up ?

The code you have is of no real use. You need the DTC which you can get using FORScan. This will then let you see what is tripping the alarm. Most probable cause is a faulty sensor on the bonnet lock.

Check for water ingress in the fuse panel under the passenger foot well. Remove the plugs and check for mould. If so it means your windscreen washer pump is leaking and tracking down to the BCM and means a replacement BCM, washer pump and revised wiring. The alarm going off was one symptom of that problem when somebody else had it so worth a check also.

Thanks! I'm taking to a garage on Thursday to hopefully run a test. Pure coincidence but took the car out 30 mins ago and the bonnet warning message came up while driving and went straight off agin. Perhaps I hadn't noticed this before so your probable cause may be the issue after all!

Thanks! I'm going to get this checked also but looks like the bonnet sensor may be playing base don the trigger message coming up while driving just now! Hadn't noticed before.
