Door open light - replacing switch

Featured Replies

The door open light came on at the weekend. Went round checking all the doors were properly closed and nothing untoward. Now worked out the issue is the switch on the boot. It sits on the right hand side of the latch on the boot lid and looks like a clip has snapped resulting in it not switching. The short term bodge has been to tape it back into place but I'd rather fix it properly. Any idea what the part is called?

can you post a picture of the part, i may have one as i replaced my boot (tailgate) and kept most of the fittings from the old one i believe.

I think I can see the part but I'll need to take the latch off to give it a proper look to confirm as there are two that look quite similar.

The switches are the same, it's the connector plug which is different.

Ah, then I suspect I need to dismantle it to check. I looked earlier and they do indeed both look the same. You can't see much of it as it's inside the latch. I expect all it does is move slightly when the boot is closed, which then pushes the microswitch in.

Took off the plastic part of the boot to see and it's the three wire cable. Looks like a ten quid job off eBay. It's taped in place at the moment so no rush. Might stick some sound deadening in the boot lid when I swap it.

Quite surprised how noisy the Fusion is. I thought I had a bearing going but I think it's just road noise.
