PLEASE HELP Ford Focus Titanium Auto 2013 Automatic Gearbox Knackered 😭😭😭

Featured Replies

I'm not sure if I'm doing right as I have a previous post on this.  I've just been told by Days that the automatic gearbox on my car needs replacing.  It is £5,200.00 parts and labour.  The local 'gearbox expert' who is really good says it's a Powershift and he's getting about 3 calls a week.  Why is this not being recalled by Ford.  My car is beautiful.  It has only done 68,000 miles and now it appears it is a right off.  Ford has a monopoly on replacing the parts.  Is there any way I could get a second hand gearbox from somewhere?  Someone help. Please. 🙏🙏😭😭

You could get a second hand gearbox from a breakers yard.  Problem is you have no idea if that one will be any better than yours, and if it is, how much longer it will last.  Powershifts of that era are notorious as you've recently found out, so really the only way to guarantee some longevity is to have it repaired or buy a reconditioned gearbox.  Neither of those are cheap options.

As for free recalls...manufacturers are only legally required to offer those for safety issues such as fire risks.  Ford would be ruined by the cost of replacing every Powershift from the Fiesta & Focus of that era so it's sadly just a case of hoping for the best for any potential buyers now.

Perfectly fine continuing to post where you were.

Can't your local "gearbox expert" help by sourcing a reconditioned gearbox? A quick Google brings up lots of firms who claim to repair, or supply reconditioned, Powershift boxes.

I did spot this garage not too far from you, I think. VW specialists who do repairs on VW DSGs  but state they do all makes - maybe worth a call?

Thank you for your reply.  I'm gutted that myself and other drivers are being let down by these obviously ***** gearboxs.  I'm very sad.

Eric Bloodaxe.  Thanks for the garage recommendation.  Unfortunately they don't fix them.  Referred me back to main dealer.  Thanks tho. 🙂
