TomsFocus
Are you accidentally catching the throttle pedal when you press the brake?

No, that was the first thing I made sure. It’s a strange one.

I reckon there's a software fault in the PCM. Would be worth contacting your local dealer to ask if they've heard of this issue, and if there's a PCM update available to rectify it. Won't be free as it's not a safety recall, would expect about an hours labour to be charged.

Thank you, I’ll give Ford a ring, but it’s strange how it’s just started to happen. 62k on the clock, and never a issue before.
rd457
From here, found by googling "brake applied power reduced": Quote Displays if you have not released the parking brake and the vehicle speed reaches 3 mph (5 km/h). If the warning message remains on after you have released the parking brake, the system has detected a fault that requires service.Have your vehicle checked as soon as possible. So did you have the parking brake on? Otherwise, maybe a bad brake booster?

Many thanks I've got exactly the same problem thinking vacuum leak on inlet, or maybe throttle position sensor, or the pedal / sensor itself. Starting with replacing the pedal assembly tomorrow.
