Can anyone advise on whether a small leak in the condenser on a 3 yr old fiesta is more likely to be a manufacturing fault or is this item prone to damage from stones etc?

I had the air con recharged last August as empty and told no leaks but then had to regas this week and a small hole in condenser has been reported. This is not at my local Ford garage but wonder if it would have been covered under 3 year warranty and should try a goodwill claim with Ford a car only done 12k
