Ford Galaxy Powerfold Mirror Problem

Featured Replies

My drivers side power mirror recently packed up ground to a halt

I have replaced with a brand new aftermarket one everything works perfectly (indicators, puddle lights, heated mirror etc) except the powerfold bit. It only closes if you push the manual button inside the car twice (pushing once nothing happens) or if you use the remote key then you have to push unlock then lock to close mirrors.
Strange I took the new mirror off a just had the original passenger mirror on but still the same problem. I tried disconnecting the battery nothing. Used FORScan found a module error cleared it but still nothing.

I used to have a car that always folded the mirrors on first lock (it did not even have to be double-locked - turn on the alarm) both on the remote and on the door push button. Now I have a car that only folds the mirrors the second time (lock, unlock and lock).

Is there a reset procedure or could it be the door modules? Why the door switch push button only work the second push? It seems to loose a power signal somewhere. The car still double locks ok.

Any Help would be appreciated

many thanks

Electric folding mirrors

Automatic folding and unfolding

Note: If the mirrors have been folded using

the manual fold button they can only be

unfolded using the manual fold button.

The mirrors will fold automatically when

you lock the vehicle with the key, the

remote control or a keyless entry system

request. The mirrors will unfold when you

unlock the vehicle with the key, the remote

control, a keyless entry system request,

the driver's interior door handle or starting

the engine

Thanks

But I know this about the manual button

Seems to be more of a problem somewhere unless for some reason oem replacement mirrors don’t work properly even though everything else works and the wiring seems the same

It would seem your replacement mirror was in the opposite  position to what the DDM module last remembered it.

You need to disconnect it and manually move it to the opposite position then reconnect.  At the moment the PDM and DDM are confused as to the position of the mirrors.

Why does the driver manual door switch only work the second time then?

push the first time nothing happens push the second time then they close and third time open and so on until after 30 secs or you open the drivers door then all starts again

why mirrors work with remote key if you unlock then lock then fold in

Is this forcing the system?

thanks

To be honest I don't know, I guess it could be some form of emergency override.
