Afternoon all

My focus 1.6tdci is playing up fault code p0500 (speed sensor A) car sits at idle and the instruments all drop to zero. After a few attempts she will kick back to life. So iv done some research but still no joy. Could some kind hearted soul help put me straight.

Have you tried hitting the dash directly above the instrument cluster when the fault occurs. If it comes back to life it could be the solder connections within the cluster.

usually throws up ‘U’ codes - can bus loss of connection.

worth a try

Hi RL

Just took the cluster out and some of the solder connections had cracked. So resoldered the little buggers and fingers crossed.

Didn’t attempt my son’s 2008 st. We just removed the cluster and sent it for repair/reconditioning. Wise to redo all the possible joints as the others could fail in time.
