Iangalaxy
With these silly fuel prices I’ve taken my foot right off the gas and my range has shot up from about 550 to about 750 on a tank, which is a game changer Does anyone know the motorway speed sweet spot for these engines? There’s normally a speed where you get best value. 65-70 seems ok.
Paulkp
On the basis that one of the fuel economy tests is based on a constant speed of 56MPH, I would suggest that the engine management optimises consumption for that speed....
Iangalaxy
56 isn’t very realistic for the motorway, that’s why I’m asking the galaxy owners (or people with same engines) for thoughts on where to set the CC

What engine do you have? I'm guessing 2.0tdci? My mondeo is most efficient at 48 mph on a roads. Motorways would obviously need to be faster if motorway traffic is flowing well. Trucks do 56mph on motorway so you could just sit behind one of those efficiently. The faster you go the more fuel used.

You don't seem to have said what engine. Is it petrol/diesel and what size is it ?
stephennicholas
I got 58 mpg from my 4-year old Galaxy Titanium 67 plate, Jan-18 registered 1.9L diesel automatic coming back from Wimborne to southeast London. I mostly followed three seconds behind high artic lorries and kept a light foot so didn't chase them if someone jumped between me and the lorry. Never done that before and surprised how it made driving into a very interesting exercise. Haven't quite managed to replicate it since so maybe wind direction, road surface, some other factors helped
